A flexible display for student work

As IDSA President, I designed and installed a modular pin-up system for Ohio State Industrial Design. It debuted at our Fall pumpkin event and was then adopted by faculty throughout the semester.

My role: Need finding, design, prototyping, CAD, coordination, and installation.

Tools: Fusion 360 and KeyShot.

The challenge

Ohio State Industrial Design needed a consistent, flexible way to display student work. The system had to fit the school’s existing boards and printing resources.

The system uses existing pinboards and tabloid printing. Push pins and custom 3D-printed brackets support interchangeable panels, making setup and updates straightforward.

02 — Keeping the hardware simple

The bracket assembly supports the display using push pins. This animation shows how the components fit together.

03 — Making panels interchangeable

Tabloid-sized panels can be replaced as new work is ready. The animation shows how the panel moves within the system.

Installed, used, and adopted

The system was installed for the Fall pumpkin event and continued to be used by faculty throughout the semester. The final result gave student work a consistent presentation with panels that are easy to replace.
